100 Year Old Book

I am reading this book and three other Harold Bell Wright books for two of my challenges this year. I chose this author because one of my favorite books ever it his Shepherd of the Hills. It is a wonderful book that I have read several times over the years. Becausse of it I started buying other titles of his when browsing at antique stores. I've had thisone and several others on my shelves for 6 to 8 years and haven't read them, thus placing them in challenges.

As you can see by the copywright this book is over 100 years old. It is in fact a first edition however it doesn't have its dj so isn't that valuable. I love the look of old books, love to hold them. With a sence of awe I think of how long this book has been setting on shelves other than mine. I wonder if it was well loved, if the owners lent it out. In the third picture you see two of the owners names and when they aquired the book, one in 1909 as a brand new book and the other in 1914 as a used book. Did the former give it to the latter? Did the second person pick it up at a used book shop or at a sale of some kind? Did he pass it along to someone else before it showed up on the shelves of the antique store where I descovered it?

I've started it and it is remensent of Shepherd of the Hills being a sequel of that book. It is sweet and slow with vivid descriptions of the landscape and of the people. I am looking forward to delving further into this one.
